Goose Chase | Warborough

Client: Private Value: £300k

Private home designed and certified to Passivhaus Standard in Oxfordshire. The client for this project sought out gcp due to our understanding of low energy building solutions; they had heard about Passivhaus and wanted their new home to meet its high comfort and low energy requirements.

The plot for the home is set on the edge of Warborough with fabulous views over open countryside to the north-west. A key requirement was to have the main living spaces and bedrooms taking advantage of these views.

This is a challenge for Passivhaus performance, as it is sensitive to orientation and large north-west facing windows are not ideal. gcp was able to optimise the design to achieve the performance required through careful specification of insulation, glazing types and building form, whilst also creating the required spacious views. The house was built using Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) by local contractor Centipede Construction, a system that enabled a speedy build and excellent performance for both insulation and air-tightness.

Services provided: Concept Development, Planning Stage Design, Planning Application, Passivhaus Design, Detailed Design, Construction Stage Support, PHPP Modelling, Thermal Modelling

Now we have experienced living in a Passivhaus, we wouldn’t want to live in anything else
